On our last day of skiing and riding here we finally got the snow I came to Colorado for. 9 inches of the deep white stuff at mid mountain and more like 15 inches in the upper bowl! I had the ride of my life that I’ve been waiting for almost as long as I’ve been snowboarding. The moguls that were hard and crunchy the day before were full up with fresh snow. Riley was buried almost to the waist when he dropped in the low spots between moguls. We were able to ride the bowl right from the top and drop into Snow White. At one point I went over 300m in fresh powder without crossing a single track! It was like riding a cloud. On our 2nd run from the top, Riley almost got lost in the cloud…he fell in some particularly deep powder and couldn’t get up…Tammy went to the rescue and almost got herself buried as well, it was quite the entertaining show!

Today we are packing up and loading for an early morning start tomorrow. Since we earned a free night with our stays on the way out here, the plan is to stay one night in the Comfort Inn in Manitou Springs (near Colorado Springs) and take in the hot spring and scenery and then to move on to Taos, New Mexico on Saturday. Colorado is an amazing place and the kids are already asking when we can come back, but with tired legs and 3 weeks on the slopes, I think everyone is ready for our next adventure!
Here is a quick video of Tammy experiencing snow up to her knees for the first time:

ReplyDeleteThe snow Gods rewarded you on your last day. If it had happened sooner you would probably have needed to take more days off. Sounds really cool, but i know I would have hated it. Your Top 10 are really cute. Enjoy your next adventure. You will find it very different but exquisite.

Love the latest top 10, really have to agree about the skiing and hot tub connection and that we need a mountain in Ontario. We have cold, damp weather here today and you are heading into the warmth. Happy camping.

Hi, It looks amazing. I was up at Blue Mountain this weekend and there was still lots of skiing but most everywhere else is closed for the season. This week, the temperaturs are supposed to get into the double digits. Jordan has been busy since he got back and passed his bronze cross and emergency first aid. Brookly is getting ready for try outs. Let me know if there's a number we can call you on when you are at the lodge at Easter. Gord says hi. Love Tanya
ReplyDeleteHi Guys.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you have had such a great time in the mountains.
It sounds like the new snow made for some great runs, I bet Jordan and Mark would have liked to have still been there with you.
Its hard to believe you have been gone for over a month already.
The next leg of your trip will get you into the sunshine which will be a nice change.
The weather here is amazing we have no snow, and as you know we have snow in the trees here in Oro in May some years.
The temperatures over the Easter weekend are going to be 20 and 21 degree's.
I will leave her next weekend and I should be with you in 3 to 4 days, but do not worry if I am a day later I may find something of interest on the way down.
Braedon and Riley I miss you lots, and I can't wait to see you.
Play Safe
